Yes it does echo those topics. I was thinking a lot about the events of the American gold rush and just how quickly and ruthlessly that happened. I was definitely thinking of this as an allegory.
Writing from a prompt challenge gave me a bit of creative license to leave some narrative aspects more nebulous and up to reader interpretation.
Thank you! I was trying to make them have a certain mood rather than doing a very detailed painting, there's only so much time in the day so I was trying to be efficient but still put in a bit of me.
