When signing a deal which of these is most important?
Money
Creative Control
Owning the IP
This was a question that Colin and Samir asked on their podcast to Jimmy Donaldson and it made me reflect a lot on what my priorities are when negotiating.
I've only ever signed a contract to draw what someone else has written, but it's important that I retain rights to my work so it can be resold at a later date.
That's an interesting question! And one that when I'm ready to publish in book form (I've got a serial of stories - Harold and Sallie(he's a woodsman, he freed Sallie from a tree) - that I'd eventually would like to see in print form. Some good food for thought!
On the negotiation table there needs to room to push and pull from both the writer and the publisher. And is there one aspect that you would not compromise on?

Money is another huge factor too.
I’ve not signed any deals yet , hope hope to someday soon! And these are good things to consider , thank you .
What was the podcast ? I love listening to podcasts while I draw and am always on the lookout for new ones .
These are questions we need to ask ourselves. What do we value most.
The podcast is Colin and Samir - https://www.youtube.com/@ColinandSamir
And the question came from the conversation with Jimmy Donaldson (Mr Beast)
I personally don't follow Jimmy's content but they talk about growth as a creator and scalability of business which is very interesting.

Probably some sort of creative control.
